One of two simultaneous original editions by the same printer, the other being in 11 volumes 8°. Fourcroy's monumental treatise on the theory of chemistry contained more information than any other work yet published and provided by far the best account of the state of the science at the time. In his long introduction Fourcroy describes the great obstacles with which the printer had to contend in producing two simultaneous editions in different formats of such a large work. He praises Baudouin's courage, wisdom, energy and typographical competence. Fine set.
