Isabelle Jammes writes, "This series dedicated to the same subject as Paris photographique can be explained both by the popularity of the theme, but also by the publisher's desire to use a series of glass negatives with a particular fineness of details. The 8 found plates, numbered 1 to 8 bear the name of Fortier, one of the first followers of the albumen on-glass negative" (p. 238.)
