Lot Essay

Painted during the 1935 Jubilee celebrations with which Great Britain and the Commonwealth countries marked the 25th year of King George V's reign. Salisbury was a noted painter of historical and ceremonial subjects and portraits, his style being one of the grand manner, in the Edwardian tradition. Christie's held the artist's studio sale in 1985.
