Original publisher's green cloth, decorated in gilt (worn, hinges split, spines detaching). Provenance: Roald Amundsen (WITH AMUNDSEN'S OWNERSHIP INSCRIPTION in Norwegian 'This book has accompanied me on all my journeys Roald Amundsen' on verso of both frontispieces) -- Malfred Amundsen (sister-in-law of Roald Amundsen, ownership inscription in Norwegian on verso of both frontispieces), and thence by descent to the present owner.
