    Lot Essay

The Bassari were very attached to their ancestral customs. The ethnic group living in Togo should not be confused with the Bassari found in Senegal and Guinea.

The Bambara, who lived in the upper Niger region of French Sudan, were to a great extent intermingled with other tribes. They were well known for their religious sculpture and for their system of metaphysics and cosmology.
