4o (280 x 230 mm). 48 engraved plates, many hand-colored, numerous text illustrations (some foxing and browning throughout). Original cloth-backed grey boards (slight shelf-wear and soiling); partially unopened; quarter brown morocco slipcase. Provenance: Van der Hoeven (bookplate on front pastedown); illegible ownership inscription on front cover.
FIRST EDITION. RARE. Fritze and Reich were students of Dieffenbach's. As Dieffenbach never published a comprehensive textbook specifically on plastic surgery, this work fills an important gap in recording the achievements of Dieffenbach and his students. Waller 3275.
