    Lot Essay

The performing arts have been a lifelong passion for Ganesh Pyne and one of his early and recurrent themes is the circus entertainer. Magicians, pupeteers, clowns and performing animals populate his imagination. The pathos of the comedians he portrays can be closely linked with Picasso's harlequins and Klee's performers.
