This work was painted on Monhegan Island, Maine, in August 1911. The work is signed at lower right 'Geo Bellows J.B.B.' by the artist's younger daughter, Jean Bellows Booth. This work is recorded in the Artist's Private Book A, page 106, number 12.
This painting will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonn of the artist's work being prepared by Glenn C. Peck in cooperation with the artist's daughter and grandchildren.
