Lot Essay

This drawings shows the same view as a watercolour executed by Chinnery and his pupil Thomas Boswell Watson illustrated in P. Conner, George Chinnery 1774-1852 Artist of India and the China Coast, Woodbridge, 1993, p. 288. The Watson version was drawn by Chinnery and coloured by Watson and shows the view a little closer to the fort.
