I-II & IV-VI, some browning and spotting, some old dampstaining to lower margins of vols. IV and V.) Contemporary sprinkled calf, spines gilt (vols. IV and V with covers affected by damp, most joints split, spines slightly rubbed and chipped). Provenance: Georgiana, Countess Spencer (armorial bookplate, Althorp bookplate).
FIRST EDITION. Volume I in the second state with 2 cancelled leaves, volume III with p.177 correctly numbered and the 'Honorious' misprint on p.179. The extended list of contents of vol. I (6 leaves, gatherings *a and *b) were issued with vol. II but are not present in this set. It appears that, as A3 and A4 in vol.
