A Book of Architecture containing Designs of Buildings and Ornaments, London: [n.p.]: 1728. 2° (505 x 345mm). 150 engraved plates, 4 double-page, by Harris, Hulsbergh, Mynde, Vertue and others after Gibbs, list of subscribers (unimportant waterstaining in fore-margins of a few plates, a few minor marks, ownership inscription scratched out from title with no loss, lower fore-corners at the beginning waterstained). 20th-century half calf.
FIRST EDITION. 'These designs of Gibbs's had a great influence in the United States as well as England for about one hundred years. A copy was in the library of Thomas Jefferson', Fowler 138; Archer 88.1; Harris 257; Berlin Katalog 2270. RIBA 1206.
