Lot Essay

Bearing the stamped mark for 'Lawleys China and Glass' the department store on Regent Street in London. Clarice Cliff's tea for two sets were available in one or twin side plate sets. The Stamford shape was inspired by a silver teapot designed by Jean Ttard of Ttard Frres in 1925. Which was illustrated in a magazine in 1929. Clarice had introduced the Stamford by September 1930.
