2 original parts (all published) bound in one volume, large 2° (544 x 380mm.) 30 FINE HAND-COLOURED LITHOGRAPHIC PLATES after Gould and H.C. Richter by Richter, printed by C. Hullmandel. (Some very light spotting to text.) Green half morocco gilt, spine in seven compartments with raised bands, lettered in two, the others with repeat decorative pattern composed from various small tools, t.e.g., (very light scuffing to extremities). Provenance: Arthur John Brooke, Fenay Hall (bookplate).
A FINE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION. No title-page, preliminaries, or index were issued, as a third part was originally intended, but later abandoned for lack of accurate specimens. Fifteen of the plates were reprinted in Gould's Mammals of Australia, two with minor revisions, but the other fifteen kangaroo plates were completely redrawn for the larger work.
