gilt fusee movement, three armed bimetallic compensation balance with timing screws and weights, white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds, gold hands, plain inner case, outer case back inscribed presented by the British Factory of Oporto To Capt Downman 1798, both cases with London hallmarks for 1798 and case maker's initals VW, movement signed, diameter 58mm.
This lot is sold with photocopied extracts relating to Captain Hugh Downham from Marshall's Royal Naval Biography.
