GREENWOOD, C. & J. Map of the County of Essex, from an Actual Survey made in the Year 1824, London: Greenwood, Pringle & Co, July 1st 1825. Large folding engraved map mounted on 3 strips of linen, each 1,340 x 556mm., with a view of Audley house at bottom (a few tears to folds, minor staining to margins), folding into original dark green slipcase (very worn and marked). Chubb p.318.
The Greenwoods were among the notable firms of publishers in the period 1820-50 who produced large-scale maps of the counties in competition with the Ordance Survey Office.
