EARLY MOCHICA COPPER WARRIOR
Loma Negra, CA 300-100 B.C.
Composed of several elements with repousse feet turned outward, hands clenched in fists, the mask face with large eyes with remains of inlay and blackened pupils, wearing a separately attached crescentic headdress decorated with an avian maskette, adorned with pierced circular earrings and necklace of six avian beads, attired in a tunic composed of square stone and turquoise plaquettes in varying shades of pale to dark green with a belt composed of six gold conical pendants.
These large metalwork ornaments were attached possibly to wooden litters or even to long tunics.
