Provenance: Méon collection (sale, Paris, 15 November 1803, lot 3,940); White Knights Library (sale, 1819, lot 1,845); Richard Heber (inscribed by him on flyleaf); Sir Thomas Phillipps (sale, Sotheby's, 24 March, 1949); A.N.L. Munby (bookplate); A.L. McLaughlin (bookplate, loosely inserted letter by Munby [signed "Tim"] presenting the catalogue to McLaughlin, his sale, Sotheby's Monaco, 7 October 1980, lot 1,898).
Catalogue of the extraordinary library of Guyon which was purchased en bloc before the sale by the Duc de La Vallière for 26,000 livres; the library was especially rich in French literature and history; many of the volumes came from the library of Diane de Poitiers (purchased by Guyon from the Château d'Anet in 1724). The catalogue offers detailed descriptions of forty-seven Guyon's manuscripts on pp. 6-32 of the introduction; there is a detailed index at end (pp. 271-312). North 149.
