Haddon Sundblom was a significant figure in the arena of illustration art, creating images for literary publications such as The Saturday Evening Post and Ladies' Home Journal as well as major food and beverage companies such as Maxwell House, Budweiser and Coca-Cola.
Of the hundreds of lasting images produced for the Coca-Cola Company, his Santa Claus series is perhaps the most well known. The Santa depicted in the present work can be seen in advertisements produced for Coca-Cola from the 1930s through the 1970s.
