A warm Summer Afternoon
signed 'HELEN BRADLEY' and with a fly (lower left), signed again, dated and inscribed 'On a warm Summer afternoon we went to Davay Nook. It was a very special place and was a great treat to go so far on the Tramcar, then a walk through fields and farms until we came to some real old fashioned, quaint cottages. There were trees and the river Irwell, clean and sparkling with Ducks swimming about. One of the cottagers made Home Made Lemonade and we had tea sitting on a form at a table, spread with a white cloth. We had fresh home baked Bread & Farm Butter and Blackberry jelly and the year was 1906 Helen Layfield Bradley 1973'(on a label attached to the reverse)
