inscribed with printer's instructions, with inscription 'An Emperor Penguin' and stamped 'HERBERT G. PONTING' on the mount, signed and inscribed 'This Emperor penguin weighed 90 pound, and stood/about 4 feet high. These Lads. are splendid eating/for antarctic explorers. Their breast furnish/fifteen or 20 pound of excellent flesh, tasting much like/hare especially when/served with red currant jelly. H.G. Ponting/(four feet hight/weighed 90 lbs)/their plumage is white to black and soft grey, with a lovely ring of orange round the neck H.G.P.' on the reverse
