A fully working Mercedes-Benz SSK
Hubert Haderthauer as a modeler combines the art of the sculptor with the technical skill of an engineer; the result being that all his models are fully working as well as being perfect little recreations of classic pre war cars that dominated both road and track.
This black liveried 1:8th scale model is all scratchbuilt from raw materials and scaled to perfection, having around 4000 handcrafted component parts. The individual parts are all manufactured by hand from steel, aluminium, brass, copper, leather, wood and rubber and then bolted together with scaled nuts and bolts - with each model being limited to a world-wide production run of up to only 25 models each.
The model is fully operable, to include a fully working engine (electrically powered), steering assembly, suspension, brakes, clutch and differential.
This beautiful example comes with hand stitched leather seats, a chromed steel and solid wood steering wheel, fascia with chromed dial frames, hand soldered spoked wheels, removable spare wheels, working steering, gears, clutch and brake, (approximately 18 inches long).
