Titles and first pages of dedications printed in red and black, numerous woodcut illustrations. 18th-century red morocco gilt, covers with triple fillet border, spines in seven compartments with raised bands, lettered in two, the others ruled in gilt. Provenance: Bibliotheca Colbertina (inscriptions on titles); Marquis of Hertford (Ragley Hall armorial booklate).
FIRST EDITION, with a distinguished provenance, of the history of Palermo by the Jesuit historian Inveges. The three volumes cover the period 2077 B.C. (the foundation of the city) to 1279 A.D. The third volume is particularly rare. Brunet III, 455. (3)
