Danty was the successor of the celebrated botanist Joseph Pitton de Tournefort at the Jardin des Plantes from 1709 until his retirement; he was also a physician. His catalogue of 3,842 lots includes maps, prints, music, and fine bindings. It also had "significant holdings in medicine and natural history" (North).
