The present watch represents number 128 in a limited series of 250 pieces. In 1997 Jan Ulrich became the first German professional bicycle racer to win the Tour de France. In subsequent years he went on to place second five times, and in 2005 he placed third in this world renowned race. Considered by many to be one of the most talented cyclists in the sport, IWC created the Jan Ulrich model wristwatch in 2005 as a tribute to this famed rider.
