Lot Essay

After a Roman copy of the statue of Minerva Giustiniani in the Villa Medici, Rome. The Roman copy entered the Medici Collections in 1584.
This sheet is part of one of the albums assembled by David during his first trip to Rome in 1775, some of which have remained intact. The drawings in each of the albums were monogrammed by David's two nephews.
