    Lot Essay

This print was originally created for the cover of the exhibition catalogue for the 1977-78 retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art, curated by David Whitney. The central panel marked with fingerprints was to be placed at the spine of the book. The final design for the catalogue was, however, rearranged by the book designer.
