This drawing is probably related to the 1er cayer de Trophées utilisés à toutes sortes d'ouvrage which illustrates 48 trophies on twelve plates engraved by Juillet after Delafosse. These prints were part of the Nouvelle Iconologie Historique published for the first time in 1768 and again in 1771. Other drawings from this series were sold at Christie's, New York, 11 January 1994, lot 92, and in the Bérard sale, Paris, 21-5 November 1891, lot 107, and are at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (M. Myers, French Architectural and Ornament Drawings in the 18th Century, exhib. cat., New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1991, no. 33), at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Lyon (acc. no. 1911.28.301) and of Paris (inv. 18405).
