Made in preparation for the figure to the right of Raffaëlli's La famille de Jean Le Boiteux, paysans de Plougasnou, Finistère, exhibited at the Salon in 1877 and now in the Town hall at Le Quesnoy (A. Alexandre, Jean-François Raffaëlli, Paris, 1909, p. 54).
