This work was first exhibied in the Salon of 1902 and was cast by Siot-Decauville in three sizes of which only two examples are known.
Gérôme shows a young woman playing a game in the Néo-Grec tradition. The object of the game is to drop balls into the open mouths of the masques on the ground without moving one's feet.
