Lot Essay

The fourth sheet in this group alludes to Sergel's visit to London in 1779, when he stayed with his compatriot the artist Elias Martin, A.R.A. (1739-1818). Ulf Cederlöf considers that this sheet probably dates to the 1790s, and is therefore not contemporary with Sergel's visit.
