A REMARKABLE RECORD OF THE JOHNSON IMPEACHMENT TRIAL, containing signatures of virtually every major Congressional player in the drama. The 51 Senatorial signatures include: Benjamin F. Wade, Frederick T. Frelinghuysen, Henry Wilson, Lyman Trumbull, Charles Sumner, Roscoe Conkling, John Sherman, Simon Cameron, and William P. Fessenden. The album also contains the signatures of the House managers of the impeachment proceedings: Thaddeus Stevens, Benjamin F. Butler, George S. Boutwell, John A. Bingham and John A. Logan; as well as Johnson's winning legal defense team of Henry Stanbery, William M. Evarts, and Thomas A. R. Nelson.
The final portion of the album contains a remarkable series of 36 admission tickets to the Senate Gallery for the trial sessions, 23 March--18 May 1868, pasted two to a page. Each measures 2 7/8 x 4 13/16 in., with imprint of Phils & Solomons in Washington, printed in various decorative types, on brightly colored card-stock. Each carries the facsimile signature of George H. Browne, Sargeant-at Arms during the proceedings.
