Large 8o. Original black cloth; pictorial dust jacket (a few minor nicks along edges); quarter morocco folding case with cloth, morocco and string onlays of a soldier and a bugle with a three-dimensional miniature bugle attached to spine.
FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 687 of about 1500 copies signed by Jones. Jones' frank look at mililtary life was adapted into a 1953 film starring Burt Lancaster, Frank Sinatra, Montgomery Clift, Deborah Kerr and Donna Reed. The movie won the Academy Award for Best Picture and has gone on to become a cinematic classic.
