    Lot Essay

"The space generated by these new works approaches the incommesurables, being as it impossible to establish any sort of communication therewith. Rather, it poses us with some queries about the inability of man, animals and Nature to interact. All this is conceived without apocalyptic statements, and away from any blatant literalism. The whole of his work sticks only to pictorial crafts and plastic strategems. In the refined crudety of these pictures, there is the subtle suggestion that man seems to be losing his grasp of what is properly human as a chief means to recognize himself, to represent himself. Wrestling in an artificial medium between the irrationality of the animal world and the perfection of Nature, Aristizabal's work points to the restitution of the human realm, namely that which man can express through art, his most potent weapon."
