The whole of his work sticks only to pictorial crafts and plastic strategems. In the refined crudety of these pictures, there is the subtle suggestion that man seems to be losing his grasp of what is properly human as a chief means to recognize himself, to represent himself. Wrestling in an artificial medium between the irrationality of the animal world and the perfection of Nature, Aristizabal's work points to the restitution of the human realm, namely that which man can express through art, his most potent weapon."
