Dr. Stephan Seeliger dates the sheet to circa 1820. The figure is closely comparable in handling to a Seated nude turning to the right, seen from behind in the Kupferstichkabinett, Berlin (inv. no. SZ75), which the artist dated by the artist 7 December 1821. A similar sheet of a A seated nude turned to the left, dated 17 November 1821, is in the Städelsches Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt, M. Bernhard and P. Kipphoff, Deutsche Romantik Handzeichnungen, Munich, 1974, II, p. 1727, illustrated.
