The mathematician and poet Kaestner was a forerunner of non-Euclidean geometry. A small sale preceded these 6,911 lots the previous year. The bulk of the collection, sold here, comprises a fine collection of mathematics and allied subjects. Goethe is known to have obtained several items at the sale.
