In 2004 Kako won the Yushu sho (Award of Excellence) for a similar snow-splashed design tea bowl in "Chanoyu zokei ten" (Modern Tea Forms Exhibition), the 21st anniversary exhibition at the Tanabe Museum of Art, Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. That teabowl was the featured work for the exhibition poster. Born in Kyoto, he studied at Saga University of Arts. He moved his kiln, formerly in Nishiwaki, Hyogo Prefecture, to Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture in 2004. Since 1998 he has exhibited yearly at the Ikebukuro Tobu Department Store Gallery in Tokyo and he has received numerous awards in other juried exhibitions.
