KIPLING, Rudyard (1865-1936). The Seven Seas. London: Methuen, 1898. 8°. Original red buckram, top edge gilt (spine faded, corners bumped). Provenance: JOSEPH CONRAD (ownership signature in red crayon on front free endpaper).
CONRAD'S COPY of Kipling's celebrated collection of verse. First published in 1896, the volume is divided into two sections, "The Seven Seas", a collection of maritime poems, and "Barrack Room Ballads", the former having an obvious appeal for Conrad as an ex-seaman. cf. Stewart p. 136.
