(his signature clipped and mounted on the recto), containing reflections on the causes of social oppression and injustice (tipped in to front flyleaf), with a statement of the authenticity of the hand written at the end, signed Lucy (?); JUSSIEU, Antoine Laurent de (1748-1836), botanist. Autograph note signed ("De Jussieu, de l'Acad. des Sciences"), n.p., n.d. [but before 1793], recommending a former student named Morel for the post of naval surgeon ("Naval surgeons with knowledge of natural history could be extremely useful for that science by procuring new materials"); CUVIER, Georges (1769-1832) and Antoine Laurent de JUSSIEU.
