Woodcut device on title and last page, woodcut diagrams (small wormhole in first 2 leaves touches 2 letters, lower fore-corners lightly stained throughout, fore-margins of first and last few leaves a little frayed). Contemportary limp vellum, remains of ties (a little soiled, upper hinge weak).
FIRST EDITION of Lanteri's scarce book describing how to build fortifications based on Euclidean mathematics. The interlocutors comprise Girolamo Cattaneo, a mathematician and military architect, Francesco Trevisi, an engineer from Verona, and a youth from Brescia named Giulio.
