"Do you remember our talking sometimes of the fortunes of the International Stores? I heard a few days ago that they have had a very good year and may distribute one bonus share in six, shortly, to get rid of the surplus money. On the other hand, they might not: but it's the proposal. I was given to understand that this was a 'tip': and that not everybody had it, so I thought of you as a gallant plunger. Only don't blame the loss of any shirt on myself. It may be public property, and already discounted!..."
