Le batard parvenu, ou l'histoire du chevalier Duplaisir. Paris: widow of Claude Lamesle, 1764.
12o. Citron morocco gilt, turn in stamp signed by Hardy. Provenance: S.P. Avery (presented to the Grolier Club Library, withdrawn stamp).
FIRST EDITION of a rare, presumably autobiographical, novella, whose author remains unidentified (see BnF general catalogue, not in Barbier). It was no doubt privately published; Claude Lamesle is best known for issuing an elaborate book of type-specimens, Epreuves générales des caractères (Paris, 1742).
