Lot Essay

Léon Richet, born in Salesmes Sarthe, was a pupil of Diaz de la Peña and first exhibited at the Salon in 1869. He was strongly influenced by the Barbizon School and by Théodore Rousseau in particular. He painted many landscapes of the forest of Fontainebleau and died there 26 March 1907.
