LIBERACE COSTUME FROM "BATMAN"
TV Series, 1966-1968
A fancy ensemble worn by Liberace when he played the dual role of Chandell and his evil twin brother, Harry, on the 1966 episode titled 'The Devil's Fingers.' Seen in the sequence when Chandell tries to seduce the matronly Aunt Harriet, as portrayed by Madge Blake, the belted smoking jacket is black silk with elaborate gold-thread embroidery and has Liberace's trademark 'signature with piano' logo stitched on the inside lining while the matching black pants have an inside label reading Acuna Hollywood/Mr. Liberace/Date Sept 1966. White elastic suspenders are included as is a videocassette of this particular episode which was the highest rated show of the entire campy series!
This costume was originally sold at the April 9-12, 1988 Christie's (Los Angeles) and Butterfield & Butterfield (Los Angeles) auction titled "The Liberace Collection;" Sale 4000X, Lot 954, Page 113 of that catalogue, though it was unidentified as being worn on the "Batman" TV series.
