This well known model has been identified with the clock on the mantelpiece of the Duc de Choiseuil's bedchamber depicted in miniatures by Van Blarenberghe. It is related to chenets of c. 1760 incorporating Chinese figures of a type found in the inventories of Jacques and Philipe Caffieri. (see F.J.B. Watson, The Choiseuil Box, London, 1963).
Probably Jean-Baptiste-André Furet (active after 1746, d. 1807) who is known to have produced clocks of this type.
