FIRST EDITION signed by James Walter Lyman on first blank. An interesting account of the voyage of the 'General Morgan' with members of the Connecticut Mining and Trading Company, from New York to San Francisco. The author arrived in August 1849, travelling on to the gold fields. Unsuccessful at gold mining, Lyman sailed for Hawaii in 1851. Hill, p. 481; Howes 577.
