These are amongst Francesco Guardi's most popular compositions. The present pictures appear to be most closely realted to the painting in the National Gallery, London, inv. 2098 and the one in the Wallace Collection, London, inv. 508 (A. Morassi, Guardi. I dipinti, Venezia, 1984, i, pp. 400, no. 475 and 528, II, figg. 478 and 511).
