Marc Chagall Four Tales from the Arabian Nights, Pantheon Books, Inc. New York, 1948 (M. 36-48; Cramer books 18) the complete and very rare de luxe set of thirteen lithographs in colours, 1948, on laid paper, the colours fresh and strong, each plate numbered with the copy and plate number, each inscribed 'Out of Series', title, text, justification and table of contents, on wove paper, copy number F of K (there was also an edition of 90 lacking the thirtheen lithograph and a de luxe edition of ten with the additional lithograph and the progressive proofs of the thirtheen lithographs), each plate in excellent condition and framed, with individual folders, text and reproductions of the artist's line drawings, within original wove paper-covered, ribbon-tied portfolio with the printed title, the portfolio with a split at the edge of the spine, paper-covered slipcase, the slipcase broken at the edges and slightly worn (album) overall S. 440 x 335mm.
