MATTIOLI, PIETRO ANDREA. Opera. Frankfurt am Main: Nicolaus Bassaeus, 1598. Folio, 370 x 217 mm., contemporary blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, covers panelled in blind with central allegorical figure, darkened and worn at corners; some mostly marginal soiling and dampstaining, some light browning to text. First Edition of the Opera Omnia, edited by Caspar Bauhin, and containing the most complete edition of the Commentarii as Mattioli's medical tracts. The Commentarii is illustrated with over 300 more woodcuts than in previous editions. Adams M-906; Nissen BBI 1309.
