First edition of the last work in the Saint Matorel trilogy, illustrated with 3 original etchings and drypoints by Picasso. One of 85 copies on Van Gelder of an edition limited to 106 copies. From the library of Paul Eluard, with his bookplate designed by Max Ernst. It contains a calligraphic dedication to Eluard, drawn and signed by Picasso, dated 27 April 1940. Two years later, Jacob wrote a poetic inscription and loosely inserted is an admiring autograph letter signed by Jacob to Eluard from the same period, calling him a half-god of poetry.
