12o. 6pp. publishers' advertisements at back. Original purple-slate cloth, covers blocked in blind with thick rule border and central circle with 'Harper Brothers, spine gilt-lettered, orange-glazed endpapers (very minor fading to spine, otherwise a very fine copy); half morocco folding case.
FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, first issue binding. Published a month after the English edition and containing about thirty-five passages not in the earlier edition. BAL 13664; Grolier American 60; Johnson High Spots 57. A VERY FINE COPY.
